Wiggins is a UCI professional development team based in the United Kingdom, founded in 2014. The team began competing in elite road and track cycling in 2015. The founder of the team, pro-cyclist Bradley Wiggins, registered the team in order to better facilitate his return to the track as part of his preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games. On 5 January 2015 the team was officially awarded its UCI Continental license. The first eight riders of the bunch, Steven Burke, Mark Christian, Jonathan Dibben, Owain Doull, Daniel Patten, Iain Paton, Andy Tennant and Michael Thompson, were accompanied by riders from the British Academy, making the total roster of 20 riders. The average age of the team is 22.5 years, with Bradley being the oldest (35).
