Imotski

Imotski is a city of lakes and famous people. It developed on a hill overlooking the Imotski field, at the foot of the fortress Topana. In the Middle Ages was the center Imote- Croatian county located in the hinterland of Bioko. At the beginning of the 18th century, it reached freedom from the Turks and connected to Dalmatia. The most intensive development of the city experienced in the 19th and in the 20th century, when agriculture (tobacco and wine) launched industrialization. Imotski has more than 10,000 people, and its region - Imote around 30,000 inhabitants, but because of the intense, decades-long emigration of a large number of inhabitants is living outside their county. In the tourist industry, Imotski is famous for its stone city and lakes - Blue and Red, which were unique in Croatian area.
