Šibenik is a historic city, where the river Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. The capital of the Šibenik and Knin region, is the oldest originally Croatian town on the Croatian coast, mentioned for the first time in 1066. in a document written by the Croatian king Petar Krešimir IV - therefore it is often called the Town of Krešimir. Šibenik has the biggest old city core in whole Croatia.
Thanks to famous physicist Nikola Tesla, Šibenik became first town in the world with alternating current and first town with street lightning.
