After a monster climb for stage 4, today was also a hard day on slippery road from Poreč to Umag. It was the fifth stage on Tour of Croatia, a 40.3 km Team Time Trial in which Tinkoff arrived at the finish line with the best time of 49:36, in front of Gazprom RusVelo (+04), CCC Sprandi Polkowice (+10) and Synergy Baku Cycling Project (+31).
At the finish, Ivan Basso, former rider and now the Technocal Co-ordinator, was praised the efforts of the Tinkoff team. He was thrilld with the win: ''It was a fantastic day – when you win a team time trial it’s a present for not only the riders, but the staff and the whole team. I’ve been saying all week how good the team spirit is here and it was a real collective effort today.''
Matija Kvasina’s Synergy Baku Cycling Project team finished fourth, 31 second behind Tinkoff. The result kept the Croatian in the overall lead. Matija now has 32 second lead in general classification just as Jesper Hansen (Tinkoff) and Victor De La Parte (CCC Sprandi Polkowice).
